Your learning path

A guitar program
to follow online

The lesson takes place live, with a program built on your level. We work on technique, rhythm, repertoire and improvisation; recordings and materials help you continue your study between one meeting and another.

01

Build on
your foundations

Already know a few chords and play your first pieces? We build on posture, coordination, rhythm and chord changes. The repertoire becomes a starting point for understanding what you play and tackling more demanding passages.

Post-beginners · Basic skills already acquired
02

Find
your direction again

Already playing but feel you're repeating the same things? We focus on posture, rhythm, repertoire and understanding the fretboard. The work starts with what you can already do and the areas you want to strengthen.

Self-taught players · Intermediate level
03

further

Harmony, musical language, reading, improvisation and interpretation. We can develop your repertoire and prepare for music-school and conservatoire entrance exams, following each institution's requirements.

How live lessons work

Multi-camera setup.
Hands, sound and sheet music.

During the lesson I can show my hands, face and sheet music, alternating shots and using real-time screen sharing. The high definition audio and the fiber connection of my workstation support the work on sound and phrasing.

The platform is agreed upon together: Zoom or another video conferencing service compatible with your workstation.

Multi-camera setup: close-ups of the instrument, explanations and sheet music
Details of the instrument, explanations and reading in the same live broadcast.

Recordings and clips to revisit

In addition to recording the lesson, I prepare clips dedicated to the passages covered together: you can open them and review explanations, exercises and fingerings during the study.

Material and assistance

PDF handouts, tablature, backing tracks and digital archive included. After the lesson you can clarify doubts and share the exercises via chat.

Styles and tools

Jazz, rock, blues,
pop and classical.

Electric, acoustic or classical guitar: we choose the instrument and repertoire according to your musical interests. Practice and theory come together, linking the physical gesture to its musical result.

Jazz

Chords, harmony, standards and improvisation. Phrasing grows from listening and from the relationship between melody, rhythm and accompaniment.

Rock & blues

Riffs, groove, bending, dynamics and tone. Precision and intention to shape your electric-guitar playing.

Pop & acoustic

Songs, accompaniment, rhythms and arpeggios. We learn to support a melody and recognise the structure of a piece.

Classical

Reading, touch, voice control and repertoire. Work on tone and musicality with the nylon-string guitar.

The online method

Live lessons and practice
between one lesson and another

During the video call we play, listen and work on passages that need attention. Afterwards, you have recordings and materials to revisit the work with clear reference points.

Your teacher

Mario Pelagatti

Guitarist, teacher and director of Obiettivo Musica. I have taught since 2000, alongside performing, recording and teacher training.

I approached the guitar as a child. After the first training a Music Time, I study with Massimo Minardi since 1992 and in 1998 I entered ai Civic Jazz Courses in Milan. Here I delve deeper into the tool with Giovanni Monteforte and Riccardo Bianchi and I graduated in 2003.

In 2001 Franco Cerri he involves me in his Guitar Ensemble. The collaboration continues until 2008, between concerts and recording activities, and includes Ieri & Oggi, recorded in 2003 and released in 2004.

Since 2011 I have collaborated with Tonino Carotone. The live activity led me to keep going 500 concerts in Europe, tackling jazz, blues, rock and pop repertoires. The videos on this page also include a recording from the 2013 Wild Mint Festival.

Alongside training, there are seminars and improvement meetings with Frank Gambale, Jim Hall, Buddy DeFranco and Dave Liebman. I participate in Umbria Jazz Winter in 2003 and others Siena Jazz in 2005, with a masterclass by Enrico Rava.

I have been teaching since 2000 and I have worked in over ten public and private music institutes. Among these, Scuola Testi, Musikando, Res Musica, Il Pentagramma, La Nuova Musica and Agoal Banca Intesa Sanpaolo. I also teach at Rudolf Steiner school in Milan.

I was responsible for drafting programs and teaching materials and coordinating courses: alla Nuova Musica, from 2007 to 2010, I coordinated ensemble music courses. I have held seminars, workshops and campuses in Italy and Switzerland and are FSE-certified trainer in communication and music education.

I am president of Obiettivo Musica, with 13 years of management. In the lessons I connect the practice of the instrument to the understanding of rhythm, harmony and repertoire. The program and materials follow the work actually done with each student.

I studied jazz guitar privately with Mario Pelagatti for about three years, both in person and online. Even though I had already been playing for a long time, Mario allowed me to make a real leap in quality. His method is incredibly effective: in addition to great technical and theoretical competence, it offers impeccable teaching support. At the end of each online lesson, send the recording and all the study material, a very precious resource that I still keep and consult today. Thanks to him I finally learned a solid study method that allows me to continue to grow and explore new languages independently. An excellent professional.

Mario is not just a teacher, he is THE teacher. Extremely prepared, he manages to convey complex concepts very effectively. The lesson is not standard and the same for everyone, but rather creates a path tailored to the student's needs (time and objectives). Highly recommended!!!!

Mario was without a doubt the best guitar teacher I had. He manages to build a genuine bond and understand who is in front of him, adapting his teaching accordingly: a true master of teaching, as well as a great musician. If you are looking for a teacher who, in addition to transmitting a lot of musical knowledge, can give rise to or keep your passion alive, you are in the right place!

The testimonials already published on the site

«That Mario Pelagatti is an incredible musician can be seen objectively at the first note he plays, an unusual elegance in perceiving music shines through the sensitivity of his phrasing. At the same time he manages to be an equally valid teacher, explaining harmony, the history of music and the concepts of guitar technique in a clear and orderly way. The blue note of his lessons, which still leaves me in disbelief, is how in just a few hours he managed to make me find the right feeling with the instrument and stimulate me to grow along my musical path.»

Andrea Agostini

«I give 5 stars because I can't give him 100. Mario is an "intelligent" teacher, in the sense that he really tries to understand the attitude of those in front of him, thus adapting his own teaching. With his unquestionable talent and infinite preparation, he is able to answer every musical doubt, trying to propose the optimal path for learning it. Plus, he's really very nice. A great teacher, a precious friend!»

Fabrizio Raffin

«Highly recommended! A person capable of putting people at ease right from the start, builds a path that is based on individual preferences and this thanks to his detailed knowledge of many musical genres. It adopts a very effective method, trying to make people immediately become familiar with the instrument. Very helpful and humane person and I find the use of the lesson summary videos so special so that I can remember the fundamental things said and done during the lesson and then play them at home.»

Chiara Di Lascio

«Mario is an extremely competent and helpful musician and teacher. He was my guitar teacher for 8 months and, although I started with major gaps (self-taught, up to that point), he still managed to give me a good foundation and improve my learning of technique, rhythm, theory and repertoire. Definitely highly recommended, the idea of the videos at the end of the lesson was excellent!»

Before connecting

Let's prepare
your setup.

You do not need the same multi-camera setup as mine. Before the lesson we agree on the platform and check that I can see your hands and hear the instrument clearly.

  1. Connection, audio and video

Prepare a stable connection, working camera and microphone. A computer or tablet can help you follow the score and explanations.

  2. Guitar and camera framing

Choose a quiet, well-lit space. Let's arrange the frame together, so I can observe the work of the two hands.

  3. Objectives and repertoire

Tell me what you are studying and which passages you want to work on. If you are preparing for an entrance exam, also share the institution's required programme.
